Music is something all our participants love, so a trip to Lasso Country Music Festival was the perfect addition to a recent Rize Support respite experience.
It was more than a day at a festival. It was an opportunity for our group to share something they love, experience live performances up close and create memories together.
Experiencing the Music Up Close
From the moment the music started, the energy throughout our group was incredible.
Our participants were able to get close to the stage and feel part of the action. They could see the artists perform, sing along to familiar songs and experience the atmosphere of a live country music festival.
One particularly special moment came when we supported a participant to safely stand from her wheelchair at the barricade. This allowed her to experience the performance from right in front of the stage.
Seeing her connect with the music in that moment was something we will not forget.
It reflected what meaningful support looks like to us. It means understanding what matters to each participant and finding safe, practical ways to help them become fully involved.
Meeting the Artists
Watching the performances was only part of the experience.
We also organised artist meet and greets for our participants. After seeing the musicians perform on stage, the group had the chance to meet them in person.
Participants could have a conversation, collect an autograph and take a photo with the artists they had just watched perform.
These personal interactions made the day feel even more special. They gave our participants something memorable to take home and plenty of stories to share with their families and friends.
Sharing an Experience Together
Attending Lasso Country Music Festival was also an opportunity for social connection.
The group shared the excitement of the performances, encouraged one another and enjoyed being surrounded by people with the same love of music. These shared interests help conversations flow and allow friendships to develop naturally.
Community experiences like this can also support participants to become more comfortable in new environments. A music festival brings different sounds, crowds, spaces and routines. With the right preparation and individual support, participants can enjoy the experience in a way that works for them.
Most importantly, everyone had the chance to feel included and part of the event.
